MINI’s latest model family boasts a bold evolution in interior design, blending tradition with cutting-edge innovation. The MINI Design Studio has developed a fresh approach to interior aesthetics, combining advanced weaving techniques, distinctive colour schemes, and tactile materials to create a unique, homey atmosphere within the iconic vehicle lineup.

Drawing inspiration from the worlds of fashion, architecture, and modern furniture design, MINI’s colour and material design team has crafted immersive environments that pay homage to the brand’s heritage while embracing contemporary trends. Key to this transformation is the introduction of a 2D weaving process using recycled polyester, featured in dashboards and door panels. This dual-colour design process allows the lower layer’s colour to subtly shine through, offering depth and visual complexity.

“The weaving process enables us to create dual-colour designs that elevate the aesthetic and atmosphere of the interior,” says Elena Schwörer, designer for materials and weaving at MINI.

One standout feature of the new interior design is the use of Dark Petrol, an interpretation of the brand’s iconic British Racing Green, harmoniously paired with the Rebel Red exterior. The combination of these colours, coupled with precisely crafted surface textures inspired by nature and satellite imagery, creates a seamless integration of visual and tactile elements.

The new sports seats in the John Cooper Works Trim also incorporate the woven 2D surface, extending into the headrest and shoulder areas for a luxurious feel. Additionally, the newly introduced Vibrant Silver accent colour adds a modern contrast to steering wheel stitching.

“We wanted colours that respect the brand’s heritage while introducing a fresh, modern aesthetic,” explains Jeanette Ohlhäuser, colour designer at the MINI Design Studio.

MINI’s attention to detail extends to the development of surface textures, inspired by natural grains and scientific imagery. These meticulously crafted textures harmonize with the woven fabrics, creating a cohesive and premium feel throughout the cabin.

The new MINI interior design philosophy represents a leap forward for the brand, integrating materials and colours that blend traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation.
