GM Defense recently welcomed leaders from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society (CMOHS), including four Medal of Honor Recipients, to its Manufacturing and Customer Innovation Center (MCIC) in Concord, North Carolina. The event featured a flag-raising ceremony, tours of the facility, and a display of cutting-edge military vehicles.
The Medal of Honor Recipients, whose service spanned from the Vietnam War to the Global War on Terror, raised the nation’s colors at the MCIC for the first time. GM Defense showcased its light tactical utility vehicle, as well as the U.S. Army’s Infantry Squad Vehicle, based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. Guests also experienced test drives of the U.S. Government’s first-ever OEM-integrated Heavy-Duty SUV, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and the GMC HUMMER EV.
Steve duMont, president of GM Defense, expressed the company’s pride in hosting these American heroes. “We’re humbled by the courage and sacrifice of the four Recipients of our nation’s highest military award for valor. Their participation at our MCIC event is a source of great inspiration for our team.”
Britt Slabinski, Medal of Honor Recipient and president of the CMOHS board, praised GM Defense’s commitment to supporting military personnel. “Seeing the cutting-edge technology and innovation being developed here to enhance the safety and effectiveness of our military is truly inspiring.”
The Congressional Medal of Honor Society, established by Congress in 1958, is committed to preserving the legacy of the Medal of Honor and connecting Recipients with communities across America. The event highlighted GM Defense’s ongoing support for the U.S. military and its technological advancements aimed at empowering those who serve.
