Versinetic and Gemini 2000 have introduced a groundbreaking payment and charging point management solution designed to streamline operations for electric vehicle (EV) charging site owners and installers. The new system integrates Versinetic’s load management module, LinkRay, with Gemini’s payment technology to offer a consolidated payment solution for any Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) compatible EV charger.
The innovation addresses a common challenge faced by EV charging operators who manage multiple charging points from various vendors. Traditionally, each charging point requires its own payment terminal, leading to substantial ongoing costs and management complexities. Additionally, many operators have had to use mobile applications requiring sign-ups and pre-charging payment assignments. The Versinetic-Gemini solution simplifies this process by enabling a single payment terminal to handle transactions for all chargers on a site, significantly reducing costs and eliminating the need for multiple subscriptions or cloud services.
Graeme Wintle, Director at Versinetic, commented, “As a leading EV design consultancy, we are dedicated to solving problems for our clients and advancing the UK’s EV infrastructure. Our unified payment solution not only reduces operational costs but also simplifies maintenance through LinkRay’s remote troubleshooting capabilities. We believe this solution will be transformative for the industry.”
The Versinetic-Gemini system is built around LinkRay, a hardware module that connects to both AC and DC chargers to manage and balance charge outputs, preventing site overloads. LinkRay can operate independently, authenticate using RFID or the Gemini payment terminal, or interface with an OCPP-compatible back-office management system for transaction authorization.
Julian Moskov from Gemini 2000 added, “Our collaboration with Versinetic simplifies the payment process for EV charging, making it easier for drivers and site operators. The integration of our contactless payment technology with Versinetic’s LinkRay ensures a clear and efficient charging experience, ultimately supporting the growth of EV adoption.”
LinkRay supports up to 100 chargers, regardless of the vendor, and offers features such as historical power usage graphing and configuration monitoring. It bridges the gap between offline systems with pre-authorized tags and cloud-based payment systems, accommodating both pre-authorized and paid transactions. Transaction logs are accessible via LinkRay or the Gemini merchant portal.
