Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, has announced its plans to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market with its first model, a mid-sized SUV, slated for launch at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January.

The SUV, expected to be named eVX, will offer a range of 500 km per charge and is positioned to compete with other upcoming EVs in the Indian market. The company has confirmed that the model will be priced above Rs 15 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki has been relatively late to the EV game compared to rivals like Tata Motors, but the company is now actively working to address customer concerns and develop a comprehensive EV ecosystem. This includes solutions for range anxiety, charging infrastructure, and resale value.

The company’s focus on addressing these key issues highlights its commitment to becoming a major player in the Indian EV market.
