Tata Motors and Tata Power Join Forces to Establish 200 Fast-Charging Stations for Electric Commercial Vehicles Across India

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors to set up 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles (CVs) across India’s major metropolitan cities—Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. This strategic partnership aims to expand the electric vehicle ecosystem, focusing on enhancing accessibility and reducing operational costs for electric CV owners.

As part of the initiative, Tata Motors will offer exclusive charging tariffs to its electric CV customers, further increasing profitability and encouraging adoption of eco-friendly commercial transport. By the end of this expansion, nearly 1,000 fast chargers will be available nationwide for electric CV users.

Vinay Pathak, Vice President & Business Head – SCV & PU, Tata Motors, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership strengthens our mission to democratize electric mobility by ensuring access to fast chargers at convenient locations. Our goal is to provide a world-class EV ecosystem that enhances both sustainability and efficiency.”

Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, highlighted Tata Power’s commitment to expanding India’s EV charging infrastructure. “We are proud to contribute to the acceleration of e-mobility by delivering reliable and accessible charging solutions, particularly in the commercial vehicle segment,” he said.

Tata Power, under its EZ Charge brand, currently operates over 5,500 public and semi-public charging points and more than 1,100 bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns. The company’s extensive network has been key to the rapid growth of electric mobility in India.

Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, is also leading the charge with its advanced electric small commercial vehicle, the Ace EV, equipped with smart technologies such as an advanced battery management system and ‘Fleet Edge’ telematics to improve safety and vehicle uptime.

This partnership marks a significant step in India’s transition to sustainable commercial transport, driving the adoption of electric vehicles through enhanced infrastructure and strategic collaborations.
