E.ON is installing cutting-edge fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles at MediaMarktSaturn locations across Germany. By 2026, around 300 new public charging points will be set up at approximately 80 of the group’s high-traffic consumer electronics stores, enhancing customer convenience and strengthening the E.ON Drive network.
Construction of the first fast-charging stations has already begun, with customers able to access multiple charging options starting in 2024. The stores will feature High Power Chargers (HPC) capable of delivering up to 300 kW, enabling drivers to charge up to 200 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. All charging points will be powered by 100% green electricity.
“With the new electric charging options at MediaMarktSaturn, we are sending a strong signal to our customers and for the future of electromobility. Thanks to our cooperation with E.ON, customers can now conveniently charge their cars at numerous MediaMarktSaturn locations while they shop. This new range of charging points further enhances our brick-and-mortar stores and the local shopping experience and supports our goal of promoting a more sustainable lifestyle,” said Karsten Wildberger, CEO MediaMarktSaturn.
“We are proud to have MediaMarktSaturn, Europe’s leading consumer electronics retailer, as a long-term and strategic partner. This will enable us to equip a large number of attractive locations with fast-charging infrastructure and thus make an important contribution to the mobility transition and climate protection,” said Marc Spieker, E.ON Board Member for Customer Solutions. “E.ON Drive already operates one of the largest charging networks in Europe. At least 1,000 new public fast-charging points are added every year. Cooperation with partners such as MediaMarktSaturn is a key component of this, alongside the construction of our own charging parks.”
