Volvo Buses is reaffirming its commitment to delivering top-notch service to its customers through VISTA, the world’s largest competition for service technicians. This prestigious event, held jointly with Volvo Trucks, showcases and hones the skills of the industry’s best technicians. From September 9–12, the competition will culminate in the grand finals in Volvo’s hometown, Gothenburg, Sweden.
Carina Borelius, Vice President of Services, Solutions & Electromobility, Business Unit Chassis at Volvo Buses, emphasized the significance of VISTA for the company. “We have a fantastic service network with highly competent service technicians. VISTA is a way for them to further improve their knowledge and get the chance to test themselves against the best in the industry.”
VISTA has been a cornerstone of Volvo’s service excellence since its inception in 1957. This year, the competition attracted an impressive 16,000 participants from Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses across 100 countries. The competition is structured to develop participants’ knowledge and competence through a series of theoretical and practical challenges. The finalists, selected from semifinal rounds in Italy, the USA, and Brazil, will compete for the title, with 44 teams from 37 countries vying for the top spot.
The competition is more than just a test of technical skills; it fosters teamwork and instills a sense of pride among participants. “Competing creates team spirit and pride, which benefits everyone, not least our customers,” Borelius noted.
For Volvo Buses, VISTA plays a crucial role in keeping service technicians at the cutting edge of new technologies, including advanced drivelines, electromobility, and connectivity. This ensures that Volvo’s global service network, with over 1,500 dealerships and service centers, remains capable of providing the best possible care for customers’ vehicles.
“Our service technicians regularly receive training to ensure they are always up to date with the latest technologies. VISTA sharpens their skills further and strengthens teamwork, contributing to raising the overall competence of our service workshops,” Borelius added.
The impact of VISTA extends to Volvo Buses’ customers, who benefit from the enhanced skills and proactive approach of service technicians. By minimizing unplanned downtime and optimizing vehicle performance, VISTA helps ensure that customers can focus on their business operations with confidence.
As VISTA 2024 approaches its final showdown in Gothenburg, the event stands as a testament to Volvo Buses’ dedication to excellence in service, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
