Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced its production, sales, and export figures for July 2024, revealing a 12.5% year-over-year (YOY) decline in global production, with 237,462 vehicles produced. The drop in production was driven by an 18.1% decrease in Japan and a 10.8% decline outside Japan.

- Japan: 52,246 vehicles (-18.1% YOY)
- Outside Japan: 185,216 vehicles (-10.8% YOY)
- China: 42,311 vehicles (-26.9% YOY)
- Mexico: 42,494 vehicles (-11.0% YOY)

Global production for the April to July period also fell by 5.3%, highlighting ongoing challenges in key markets such as China and Japan.
Sales Performance: Despite the production setbacks, Nissan’s total sales in July decreased only by 1.3% YOY, with 261,386 vehicles sold globally. In Japan, sales saw a slight increase of 3.0% YOY, driven by a strong performance in the minivehicle segment, which grew by 10.9%. However, registered vehicle sales in Japan declined by 1.6%.
Sales Outside Japan:
- North America: 103,567 vehicles (+7.0% YOY)
- Europe: 25,148 vehicles (-6.5% YOY)
- China: 47,102 vehicles (-20.8% YOY)
While sales in North America and Mexico showed positive growth, China remained a challenging market for Nissan, with a 20.8% YOY decline in sales.
Export Figures: Nissan’s exports from Japan in July dropped by 19.3% YOY to 25,564 vehicles. Exports to North America were particularly impacted, declining by 22.4%, while exports to Europe saw a positive increase of 20.8%.
Overall, Nissan continues to face headwinds in global production and exports, but strong minivehicle sales in Japan and stable sales in North America offer some positive signs as the company navigates these challenges.
