The Volvo Group has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art heavy-duty truck manufacturing plant in Monterrey, Mexico, as part of its strategic expansion in North America. Scheduled to be operational by 2026, the new facility will enhance the Group’s production capacity for Volvo and Mack Trucks, supplementing its existing U.S. operations to meet growing demand in the U.S., Canadian, Mexican, and Latin American markets.

With an investment of approximately $700 million (SEK 7.2 billion), the Monterrey plant will be a comprehensive assembly facility, including cab body-in-white production and paint. Its location offers significant logistical advantages, providing efficient access to the southwestern and western U.S. regions, as well as Mexico and Latin America, thanks to its proximity to the U.S. border and robust infrastructure.

This move is part of Volvo Group’s broader strategy to strengthen its industrial footprint and supply chain flexibility in North America. The Group also recently announced the acquisition of Commercial Vehicle Group’s (CVG) production plant in North Carolina for $40 million, a deal expected to close later this year.
