Ather Energy, an electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced its plans to enter its second international market, Sri Lanka.
The company is set to launch its first experience center in Sri Lanka in the upcoming quarter, in partnership with Evolution Auto, a joint venture between Sensei Capital Partners, Atman Group, and Sino Lanka.
In November 2023, Ather made its international debut in Nepal, marking its first expansion outside of India.
As Ather’s national distributor in Sri Lanka, Evolution Auto will oversee the sale and service operations for Ather Energy. Additionally, Ather plans to establish a network of fast-charging infrastructure throughout the country to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles and provide a smooth experience for customers.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, expressed excitement about entering the Sri Lankan market, stating, “Sri Lanka has been a part of our global expansion strategy following Nepal, where we established our presence last year. With the rising costs of owning petrol vehicles and the economic and environmental benefits of electric vehicles, the Sri Lankan market is increasingly leaning towards EVs.”
Zahran Ziyawudeen, CEO of Evolution Auto, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “At Evolution Auto, our goal is to lead the way in sustainable transportation in Sri Lanka, making eco-friendly electric mobility accessible and efficient for everyone. We are excited to partner with an industry leader like Ather Energy to bring a top-tier range of scooters to Sri Lanka.”
Ather’s first Experience Center in Nepal was opened last year.
