In a major push towards green mobility, Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has announced a strategic collaboration with Delta Electronics India and Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd. This partnership aims to significantly expand the charging infrastructure for electric commercial vehicles by establishing 250 new fast-charging stations across the country. These stations will be strategically located in over 50 cities, including key urban centers such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi.
The new charging stations will boost the existing network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points, supporting the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs) in e-commerce, parcel, courier, and other industries aiming to reduce their carbon footprint through sustainable last-mile deliveries. Tata Motors, leveraging its deep understanding of EV movement patterns, will recommend optimal locations and nearby dealerships for the installation of these fast chargers. Delta Electronics will provide the necessary hardware, while Thunderplus Solutions will be responsible for the installation and operation of the stations.
Mr. Vinay Pathak, Vice President & Business Head – SCV&PU, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Our endeavour is to make emission-free cargo transportation easily accessible. Expanding the available charging infrastructure on high-use routes will encourage more customers to opt for electric commercial vehicles and improve vehicle uptime resulting in higher revenues and better profitability, while contributing towards a cleaner, greener environment.”
Mr. Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India Pvt Ltd, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, saying, “Delta aims to provide innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow. This partnership with Tata Motors and Thunderplus allows us to contribute significantly to India’s electric cargo ecosystem.”
Echoing these sentiments, Mr. Rajeev YSR, CEO of Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd, emphasized their mission to make charging solutions more accessible. He added, “This initiative aligns perfectly with our campaign #HarGharThunder, through which we intend to make electric vehicle charging abundantly available, thus removing charge anxiety.”
Tata Motors’ Ace EV, India’s most advanced four-wheel e-cargo solution for last-mile deliveries, is poised to benefit greatly from this expanded charging infrastructure. Supported by over 150 Electric Vehicle Service Centres nationwide and equipped with cutting-edge technology, the Ace EV offers customers a holistic e-cargo mobility solution.
With this collaboration, Tata Motors and its partners are set to drive the transformation of India’s commercial vehicle industry towards a more sustainable and greener future.
