Ola marked a significant step forward in electric mobility during its ‘Sankalp 2024’ event, held on Independence Day. The event, which was the company’s largest to date, attracted over 8,000 attendees in person and drew 600,000 viewers on social media.
Ola Electric Unveils New Models and Technologies
Ola Electric made several key announcements that underscore its commitment to revolutionizing the electric vehicle (EV) industry in India:
- Launch of New Electric Vehicles: Ola introduced three new electric two-wheeler models—Roaster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro—priced at INR 74,999, INR 1,04,999, and INR 1,99,999, respectively. These models are designed to cater to a wide range of consumer needs, from budget-friendly options to high-performance vehicles.
- Bharat 4680 Cell Integration: In a major technological leap, Ola announced that its electric vehicles will be equipped with the company’s own Bharat 4680 cells starting in Q1 FY26. This development is expected to enhance battery performance and driving range, solidifying Ola’s position as a leader in the EV market.
- Introduction of the Gen-3 Platform: Ola launched its Gen-3 platform, which will serve as the foundation for the company’s future electric vehicles. This platform is expected to bring significant advancements in vehicle design, safety, and efficiency.
- MoveOS 5 Launch: The latest version of Ola’s operating system, MoveOS 5, was unveiled at the event. This new OS will include features such as Group Navigation, Live Location Sharing, and Road Trip Mode, all powered by Ola Maps. A beta version of MoveOS 5 will be available to users by Diwali through an over-the-air (OTA) update.
Expansion of Electric Logistics
Ola also outlined its vision for electrifying logistics, a move aimed at reducing operational costs and environmental impact:
- Electric Logistics Initiative: Ola announced its plans to electrify its delivery logistics operations, a step that is expected to drive cost synergies and reduce the overall carbon footprint of its logistics services.
Innovations in Electric Payments and Credit
To complement its electric mobility efforts, Ola introduced new financial services designed to support the adoption of electric vehicles:
- Ola Credit: This new feature will provide personal loans through a fully digitized process, allowing customers to receive credit directly into their bank accounts within minutes. This service aims to make electric vehicles more accessible to a broader audience.
- Ola Pay: Ola also launched Ola Pay, a UPI-based payment feature integrated into the Ola App, allowing users to conveniently pay for rides, food, and grocery purchases.
