BMW M GmbH is pushing the boundaries of high-performance and electrification with the introduction of the new BMW M5 Touring at Monterey Car Week. Set to launch in November 2024, the third BMW M model featuring the M HYBRID drive system combines track-ready performance with everyday versatility, marking another step forward in the brand’s electrified future.
Powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine paired with an electric motor, the BMW M5 Touring produces a staggering 727 hp and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. This electrified powerhouse delivers not only exhilarating performance but also a fully electric driving range of up to 67 kilometers (42 miles), making it ideal for urban commutes and long-distance journeys alike.
“The new BMW M5 Touring redefines what’s possible in the high-performance segment, blending cutting-edge hybrid technology with the practicality of a Touring model,” said Axel Mittler, Marketing Manager at BMW M GmbH. “It’s a car designed to dominate both the track and everyday life.”
The M5 Touring’s distinctive exterior design emphasizes its athleticism, with large air intakes, flared wheel arches, and BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting accentuating the new kidney grille. The interior is equally impressive, offering a driver-focused cockpit with M-specific displays, Merino leather trim, and a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System, all set to enhance the driving experience.
BMW has also equipped the M5 Touring with advanced driving assistance systems, including front collision warning, Lane Departure Warning, and optional features such as Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Professional. These features allow for semi-automated driving and parking, ensuring both convenience and safety on the road.
With production set to begin at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, the M5 Touring will hit key markets including Germany, the USA, and the UK, making it a global icon of electrified performance.
As the high-performance wagon continues to push boundaries, BMW is reinforcing its commitment to electrification without sacrificing the driving dynamics and versatility that enthusiasts have come to expect from the M5 nameplate.
