BMW and MINI are continuously enhancing their My BMW and MINI apps with five updates released annually. The apps are becoming indispensable for users, particularly in the realm of electric mobility and vehicle charging.

One of the latest innovations is the Electric Vehicle Analysis tool, designed to help customers assess the suitability of an electric BMW for their personal driving habits. Using real-world driving data from combustion engine models, the app simulates how many journeys could have been completed with a fully charged electric vehicle, alleviating concerns about range anxiety. To date, this function is available to customers with BMW Operating System 7 or later, and future updates will include expanded analysis features such as charging facility availability and long-distance travel.

“Electric vehicles can already be incorporated perfectly into the daily routine of many customers – it’s just that the majority of them haven’t tried it yet,” said Dirk Wiedmann, Senior Vice President of Sales Steering and Strategy, Digitalisation at BMW.

The latest updates also improve navigation and route planning, offering features such as charging-optimized routes and the ability to add individual charging stops that are synchronized with the vehicle. The apps also provide users with detailed information on facilities near charging stations, including restaurants and supermarkets.

Another key addition is the Charging Wallet, which allows drivers to manage preferred charging tariffs and compare prices at different stations, ensuring cost-effective charging options.

With 13 million users globally, the My BMW and MINI apps enjoy a 4.8-star average rating on the App Store. They provide a wide range of functions, from controlling the car remotely to scheduling servicing and accessing ConnectedDrive Upgrades.

The apps are central to BMW’s vision for the future of driving, ensuring seamless interaction between vehicle and driver while promoting a smooth transition to electric mobility.
