Volkswagen is raising the bar with the launch of a new, even sportier version of the ID.3 GTX. Alongside the existing ID.3 GTX, which delivers 210 kW (285 PS), customers can now order the new ID.3 GTX Performance, boasting 240 kW (326 PS). This makes it Volkswagen’s most powerful electric compact sports car, featuring an electric drive motor that channels its energy into rear-axle traction with ease. The design, with a 79 kWh (net) battery placed in the vehicle’s center within the sandwich floor, ensures a low center of gravity and optimal axle load distribution, enhancing driving dynamics and handling.

The ID.3 GTX Performance is equipped with the latest generation of software and a 12.9-inch (32.8 cm) infotainment display. It also includes the IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration and an improved, user-friendly operating system. Optional features include an enhanced augmented reality head-up display, a redesigned Wellness app, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system.

This model introduces an upgraded Volkswagen Performance drive system, increasing the output from 210 kW in the ID.3 GTX to 240 kW in the ID.3 GTX Performance. Both versions deliver a maximum torque of 545 Nm, surpassing the power of Volkswagen’s most potent V6 turbocharged engines. The GTX Performance accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, with an unrestricted top speed of 200 km/h—a first for the ID. family.

The ID.3 GTX comes standard with advanced assist systems for comfort and safety, including cruise control (upgradable to Adaptive Cruise Control ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, Lane Assist for lane-keeping, oncoming vehicle braking during turns, and Dynamic Road Sign Display. Additionally, the Car2X traffic hazard alert function is included as standard.

Kai Grünitz, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Development, remarked, “With its spontaneous and superior power delivery, the new ID.3 GTX Performance is for me the electric counterpart to our sporty compact car icon, the Golf GTI Clubsport. Of course, an electric drive and a turbocharged petrol engine each have their own unique character. Yet the ID.3 GTX Performance and the Golf GTI Clubsport share the same fascinating lightness when they accelerate.”
