Toyota Submits Recurrence Prevention Plan Following Corrective Order from MLIT

Toyota Motor Corporation announced today that it has submitted a detailed report outlining measures to prevent the recurrence of issues in its certification operations, following a corrective order from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) on. This comprehensive plan marks a significant step toward ensuring compliance and strengthening the company’s internal processes.

Toyota acknowledged that management had not been sufficiently involved in certification operations, leading to gaps in data management and unclear procedures. The company has committed to a company-wide overhaul of its certification operations, which will include enhanced governance, stricter internal audits, and improved communication between management and on-site staff.

Key measures include the appointment of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Global Chief Quality Officer (G-CQO) as central figures in overseeing development and certification processes. Additionally, Toyota will implement more robust training programs to enhance compliance awareness among employees and management. The company will also introduce a system to monitor and continuously improve certification tests, ensuring that all processes meet regulatory requirements.
