The Avondale Estates Police Department, located just outside Atlanta, has taken a significant step toward modernizing its fleet management with the adoption of Ford Pro™ Telematics. In 2022, the department began transitioning some of its gas-powered vehicles to electric, a move that has already resulted in substantial monthly savings. However, the innovation didn’t stop there.

Chief Harry Hess, who took charge of the department’s fleet, faced the challenge of inconsistent vehicle maintenance schedules. Determined to improve the situation, he implemented Ford Pro™ Telematics, a powerful tool that leverages vehicle data to streamline maintenance. The system provides real-time alerts, tracks vehicle health, and offers insights that allow Hess to make informed decisions about fleet management.

“Ford Pro Telematics has made tracking and completing vehicle maintenance so much easier,” said Chief Hess. The technology also enabled him to develop a fleet replacement plan, something the department had previously lacked. With real-time data at his fingertips, Hess can now adjust decommissioning timelines, saving the department money and extending the life of certain vehicles.
