BMW has introduced an exclusive version of its popular Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the BMW X3, tailored specifically for the Chinese market. This new variant features an extended wheelbase for the first time, enhancing rear legroom and overall comfort. Manufactured at the BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) joint venture’s Lydia plant in Shenyang, the new X3 is designed to meet the preferences of discerning Chinese customers.

The extended wheelbase model, named the BMW X3 30L xDrive, measures 4,865 millimeters in length and 1,920 millimeters in width, making it the largest in its class. This size increase, combined with a sleek, dynamic silhouette and sporty design elements, sets the new X3 apart. The model comes with BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting for the radiator grille and is available in six metallic paint finishes, including the distinctive Frozen finish.

Inside, the new BMW X3 boasts an array of luxurious features designed for comfort and convenience. The cabin includes the BMW Curved Display, BMW Interaction Bar, and a steering wheel with a flattened lower rim. Standard Veganza comfort seats, available in three two-tone color options, provide a premium seating experience. Optional “Crafted Clarity” glass applications add a touch of elegance to the interior controls.

One of the standout features is the panoramic glass roof, which offers skylounge lighting in multiple colors, enhancing the ambient lighting throughout the vehicle. Rear passengers benefit from additional legroom, comfort cushions, and a center armrest with integrated wireless charging for smartphones.

The new BMW X3 also incorporates the latest BMW iDrive system, based on BMW Operating System 9, offering digital services tailored exclusively for the Chinese market. The BMW Digital Premium range provides a suite of features designed to meet the specific needs of Chinese customers.

BMW’s commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in the production of the new X3 at the Lydia plant, the latest addition to the BBA joint venture. The plant is equipped to deliver high-quality, efficient, and environmentally friendly production.

The introduction of the long-wheelbase BMW X3 marks a significant milestone for BMW in China, where the previous model was the brand’s best-selling vehicle in 2023. With around 156,000 units sold in China, the X3 accounted for approximately 40 percent of all BMW X model sales in the country.
