Tata Motors Reports Decline in July 2024 Sales Across Domestic and International Markets

Tata Motors Limited announced today that its total sales in the domestic and international markets for July 2024 stood at 71,996 vehicles, marking a 11% decline compared to 80,633 units sold in July 2023.

Domestic Sales Performance:

The total domestic sales dropped to 70,161 units in July 2024, an 11% decrease from 78,844 units in July 2023.

Commercial Vehicles:

Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle (CV) segment experienced a significant downturn, with total CV sales falling 18% year-on-year to 27,042 units from 32,944 units in July 2023.

  • HCV Trucks: Sales decreased by 24%, from 8,502 units in July 2023 to 6,493 units in July 2024.
  • ILMCV Trucks: Sales dropped by 11%, from 4,899 units to 4,341 units.
  • Passenger Carriers: This category saw a slight increase of 3%, with sales rising from 4,292 units to 4,424 units.
  • SCV Cargo and Pickup: Sales fell sharply by 25%, from 13,523 units to 10,178 units.
  • CV Domestic: Total domestic CV sales decreased by 19%, from 31,216 units to 25,436 units.
  • CV IB: Sales in the international business dropped by 7%, from 1,728 units to 1,606 units.

The domestic sale of MH&ICV (Medium, Heavy & Intermediate Commercial Vehicles), including trucks and buses, stood at 11,174 units, down from 13,291 units in July 2023. Total sales for MH&ICV in the domestic and international business stood at 11,886 units, a decrease from 13,830 units the previous year.

Passenger Vehicles:

The passenger vehicle (PV) segment, including electric vehicles (EVs), also reported a decline. Total PV sales decreased by 6%, from 47,689 units in July 2023 to 44,954 units in July 2024.

  • Total PV Domestic (includes EV): Sales dropped by 6%, from 47,628 units to 44,725 units.
  • PV IB: Sales surged by 275%, from 61 units to 229 units.
  • Total PV (includes EV): Overall sales fell by 6%, from 47,689 units to 44,954 units.
  • EV (IB + Domestic): Sales of electric vehicles dropped by 21%, from 6,329 units to 5,027 units.

These figures include sales from Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, both subsidiaries of Tata Motors Limited.
