Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has today unveiled its first Integrated Report 2024, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards its Ambition 2030 vision. This comprehensive report highlights Nissan’s business progression with a firm emphasis on sustainability, outlining the company’s vision, strategies, business plans, and financial information, alongside its mid- to long-term societal impact.
The report details Nissan’s fifth-generation Nissan Green Program 2030 (NGP2030) and the Nissan Social Program 2030 (NSP2030), both of which underpin the company’s overarching business strategy. The Sustainability data book 2024, an update from last year’s ESG data book 2023, provides further insights into the outcomes of these initiatives.
Nissan Green Program 2030
Since its inception in 2002, Nissan’s Green Program has focused on achieving a harmonious coexistence between people, vehicles, and nature. NGP2030 addresses critical priorities such as climate change, resource dependency, and air quality, aiming to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius, move towards carbon neutrality, and promote a circular economy.
Key targets under NGP2030 include:
- Reducing per-vehicle lifecycle CO2 emissions by 30%
- Cutting per-vehicle manufacturing CO2 emissions by 52%
- Halving per-vehicle driving CO2 emissions for new models in Japan, the U.S., Europe, and China
- Globally reducing driving CO2 emissions by 32.5%
- Increasing the sustainable material ratio to 40% in key markets
Nissan Social Program 2030
NSP2030 is an extension of Nissan’s social initiatives, aligning with The Arc business plan and contributing to the Ambition 2030 vision. This program is built on six pillars: safety, quality, responsible sourcing, intellectual property, communities, and the power of employees.
Nissan places people at the center of its mission, emphasizing respect for human rights. The ‘power of employees’ pillar focuses on diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), employee human rights, learning and development, and health and safety, fostering a supportive and innovative workplace.
Sustainability at Nissan
Nissan’s chief sustainability officer, Joji Tagawa, emphasized the importance of collaboration with partners and stakeholders to achieve the company’s long-term vision. “In order to ensure that our progress towards our long-term vision is inclusive of and benefits all of our partners and stakeholders, it is pivotal that we collaborate with them to exchange ideas and opinions and evolve our efforts,” said Tagawa. “Together, we must steadily prepare for the future so we can make the company itself sustainable and, ultimately, contribute to a sustainable society.”
As Nissan continues its path towards a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive world, sustainability remains at the core of its business strategy, driving innovation to enrich lives.
