Ford’s innovative BlueCruise hands-free driving technology has now been approved for use in 15 European countries, following the European Commission’s green light. This expansion allows drivers to access more than 82,744 miles of designated highways, known as Blue Zones, across Europe. With this new capability, Ford customers can experience hands-free driving on long journeys, such as a scenic route from Sweden to Italy, covering nearly 1,864 miles and over 25 hours of driving.
This latest approval extends BlueCruise’s availability to 17 countries globally, including the U.S., Canada, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.
Ford has been a pioneer in introducing advanced driver assistance systems in Europe. BlueCruise made its European debut in Great Britain in 2023, becoming the first system to offer true hands-free driving at highway speeds. The technology has since gained traction across the continent, with Spain and Germany also joining the list of approved countries.
BlueCruise offers a more relaxed and enjoyable driving experience, reducing fatigue and stress during long commutes or road trips. In North America, the system has been integrated into a range of Ford and Lincoln vehicles, including the 2025 Ford Explorer and 2025 Lincoln Aviator SUVs. The Lincoln Aviator’s summer rollout will mark the availability of BlueCruise across all Lincoln U.S. models.
Customers like Peter Lamarine, an F-150 Lightning owner, have praised BlueCruise for transforming monotonous drives into enjoyable experiences. To date, over 420,000 BlueCruise-equipped Ford and Lincoln vehicles are on the road worldwide. In the U.S. and Canada alone, drivers have logged more than 3.1 million hours and 213 million hands-free miles, a distance greater than a round trip from Earth to the sun.
