Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has released its production, sales, and export figures for June 2024 and the first half of the year, revealing significant declines across multiple metrics.
Production: In June 2024, global production dropped by 16.3% year-on-year to 246,411 vehicles. Japan’s production saw an 18.2% decline, amounting to 51,053 vehicles. Outside Japan, production fell by 15.8% to 195,358 vehicles. For the January to June 2024 period, global production decreased by 4.4%, with Japan and international markets both witnessing a 4.4% reduction in output.
Sales: Global sales in June 2024 decreased by 5.1% to 275,638 vehicles. Sales in Japan, including minivehicles, fell by 10.8%. The decline was sharper for registered vehicles at 15.9%, while minivehicle sales slightly decreased by 1.0%. Conversely, sales outside Japan dropped by 4.2%. However, for the first half of 2024, global sales increased by 2.4%, with a notable 3.2% rise in markets outside Japan. Minivehicle sales in Japan also saw a minor increase of 0.8%.
Exports: Exports from Japan in June 2024 decreased by 15.5% year-on-year to 29,989 vehicles. Despite the monthly decline, the total exports for the first half of 2024 remained relatively stable with a slight 0.2% decrease, totaling 193,169 vehicles.
Nissan faces challenges as it navigates a downturn in production and sales, with global production and exports showing significant decreases in June 2024. However, the company managed to achieve a modest increase in global sales for the first half of the year, driven by growth in international markets.
