In a groundbreaking study conducted by Nissan Formula E Team alongside OnePoll, the aspirations of the next generation for a sustainable future featuring electric mobility have been unveiled. The survey, which gathered insights from 6,000 participants aged 8 to 16 across Brazil, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the UK, and the US, highlights a strong desire among young people to combat climate change through electric vehicles.

The findings of this study align seamlessly with Nissan Formula E Team’s latest marketing campaign, “Department of Futures.” This engaging video, showcased on Nismo and Nissan’s global social media channels, features a group of bright 7-10-year-olds posing challenging questions about the future of electric vehicles to team drivers Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz, as well as team principal Tommaso Volpe. The video creatively captures the essence of the survey results, showing the younger generation holding key team members accountable to ensure Nissan’s commitment to its environmental promises.

More than half of the surveyed youth expressed a desire to drive electric cars to help save the environment, with 68% emphasizing the importance of fighting climate change. The campaign effectively represents these sentiments, underlining Nissan’s Ambition 2030 pledge and the introduction of 27 new electrified vehicles by the end of the decade.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, commented on the study’s findings: “We realize the importance of providing the next generation with the tools to continue fighting climate change through electric mobility. The survey proves the desire of young people to help the environment through their choice of vehicles, so we know at Nissan Formula E Team that we have to continue developing important technologies. The ‘Department of Futures’ members know their stuff about electrification, and it’s our goal to make sure we help them enjoy a greener, better future.”

Despite the enthusiasm, the study also revealed that almost half of the respondents are confused about what it means to be ‘eco-friendly,’ and only 30% consider themselves currently kind to the environment. This highlights Nissan’s responsibility as a pioneer in electrification to educate and lead the next generation in developing and embracing electric technologies.

Nissan’s commitment to a sustainable future is evident through their continuous efforts to innovate in electric mobility, ensuring that the aspirations of today’s youth for a cleaner, greener world are realized.
