Volkswagen AG celebrated its premier suppliers with the Volkswagen Group Award 2024, marking the 20th anniversary of this prestigious event. The award ceremony took place at Hafen 1 in Wolfsburg, attended by approximately 250 guests from 29 countries, reflecting the global reach and collaborative spirit of Volkswagen’s supply chain.
Dirk Große-Loheide, Member of the Extended Executive Committee and Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Procurement, emphasized the importance of partnership in his opening remarks: “The past, present, and future success of the Volkswagen Group is only possible with strong partners. The anniversary of the Volkswagen Group Award highlights the importance we place on close, partnership-based cooperation with our suppliers and underscores the esteem that goes with this.”
The 2024 awards recognized excellence in ten categories, celebrating companies that have demonstrated outstanding partnership-based cooperation, long-standing values, and shared success. Out of 40 nominees, 10 companies were honored for their exceptional performance:
- Costs: Lenovo received the award from Dirk Große-Loheide and Stefan Tägtmeyer, Head of Group Procurement General.
- Sustainability: Salzgitter AG was honored by Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Group, and Michael Bäcker, Head of Group Procurement Metal.
- Launches: Xingyu Automotive Lighting Systems Co., Ltd. was recognized by Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars Brand, and Michael Kerschensteiner, Head of Group Procurement New Product Launches.
- Resilience: KEBODA TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. received the award from Christian Vollmer, Member of the Extended Executive Committee, and Martin Fries, Head of Group Procurement Supply Chain.
- Digitalization: Mobileye Global Inc. was honored by Hauke Stars, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG responsible for IT, and Stefan Kühne, Head of Group Procurement Interior.
- Brands and Regions: Schaeffler AG was recognized by Ralf Brandstätter, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG responsible for China, and Bernd Zielke, Head of Group Procurement Central Functions.
- Local Hero: TEXA S.p.A. received the award from Silvano Michieli, Chief Procurement Officer Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., and Stefan Gramse, Head of Group Procurement Exterior.
- Transformation: The Handtmann Gruppe was honored by Gunnar Kilian, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG responsible for Human Resources and Trucks, and Till von Bothmer, Head of Group Procurement Powertrain.
- Battery: Gotion High-Tech Co., Ltd. was recognized by Thomas Schmall, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG responsible for Technology, and Turgay Yetim, Head of Procurement Group Technology and Head of Group Procurement HV Battery.
- Partnership: LG Electronics received the final award from Dirk Große-Loheide and Volker Lages, Head of Group Procurement Connectivity, eMobility and Driver Assistance.
In a special tribute to two decades of partnership, the Volkswagen Group Award History Walk at Hafen 1 showcased all past winners alongside key highlights and products from Volkswagen’s rich history. The evening was a testament to the power of collaboration and the shared achievements that drive the automotive industry forward.
