In a thrilling return to America’s mountain, Ford Performance introduces the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, an all-new electric demonstrator vehicle, set to compete in the 102nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This venture follows the record-breaking success of the SuperVan 4.2 at the 2023 event.

Crafted with input from Ford Design and STARD Advanced Research and Development, the SuperTruck is engineered to conquer the extreme conditions of Pikes Peak. Its cutting-edge aerodynamics generate an impressive 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph. The powertrain features three STARD UHP 6-Phase Motors and Ultra-High Performance Li-Polymer NMC cells, delivering over 1,400 horsepower.

The vehicle’s design includes advanced aerodynamic elements like a triple-element front wing, headlight and hood ducts, front dive-planes, side and rear diffusers, and a multi-element rear wing. It also boasts carbon ceramic brakes, Pirelli P-Zero tires on magnesium forged wheels, and a custom in-board suspension system.

Renowned Pikes Peak veteran and current record holder Romain Dumas will pilot the SuperTruck, marking his ninth appearance and second collaboration with Ford Performance. “After a successful 2023 climb, I’m thrilled to be behind the wheel again with this team and to help push the limits of what an electric vehicle can achieve on the turns of this legendary course,” Dumas remarked. “In testing, the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck has surpassed my expectations, so we are hoping for some good weather to try and do something very special.”

STARD continues its pivotal role from the SuperVan 4.0 project, contributing to the SuperTruck’s powertrain design and controls. Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance, emphasized the importance of such endeavors: “Our pursuit to the top of the mountain is charged by the commitment to make all our electric vehicles more capable, more advanced, and more exciting.”

Ford’s legacy at Pikes Peak dates back to 1916 with a Model T completing the climb in 28 minutes 03 seconds. This year, Ford aims to break its own 2023 record of 8 minutes 47.682 seconds set by the SuperVan 4.2.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will take place on June 23. Fans can watch the event live on YouTube.
