Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has introduced the N-VAN e:, a commercial-use mini-EV model that builds on the popular gasoline-powered N-VAN by incorporating unique, user-friendly features exclusive to electric vehicles. This new model maintains the beloved attributes of its predecessor, such as the expansive cargo space enabled by a flat, low floor and high ceiling, and a large passenger side opening achieved by eliminating the center pillar. The N-VAN e: enhances these features with EV-specific benefits, including a power output function and a notably quiet cabin.
The N-VAN e: has achieved a practical range of 245 km (152 miles) on a single charge in WLTC mode, making it ideal for delivery services. This has been made possible through the integration of a large-capacity battery, a downsized eAxle, and a centralized layout of high-voltage components to maximize cargo space. Charging is efficient, with normal charging taking approximately 4.5 hours and fast charging (up to 80%) taking about 30 minutes. The battery’s cooling and heating system helps to mitigate performance degradation due to extreme temperatures, further enhancing range and reducing charging time, especially in winter.
Honda offers four variations of the N-VAN e: to cater to diverse customer needs:
- e: L4: A standard 4-seater type suitable for both commercial and personal use. It features a 7-inch LCD meter and two-tone exterior color options.
- e: FUN: Built on the e: L4, this type features a light beige interior, LED headlights, and fast charging capability, making it perfect for leisure activities.
- e: G: Designed exclusively for commercial use, this single-seat variant offers increased interior length and a lower floor height for enhanced functionality.
- e: L2: Featuring tandem seats on the driver side and a large opening on the passenger side, this type is optimized for ease of access and loading/unloading.
The e: G and e: L2 types are available exclusively through Honda’s Fleet Sales Division and the Honda ON online store.
Safety is paramount in the N-VAN e:, with advanced driver-assistive functions standard across all types. Notably, it is the first model in its segment to include side curtain airbags and the Post-Collision Braking System. Honda SENSING, standard on the e: L4 and e: FUN types, includes a comprehensive suite of safety features such as Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Honda CONNECT enhances the user experience by offering remote control of several EV functions via a smartphone app, such as setting departure times for temperature control and optimizing charging times to reduce electricity costs and extend range.
Pricing for the N-VAN e: starts at 2,699,400 yen for the e: L4 and 2,919,400 yen for the e: FUN. The e: G is priced at 2,439,800 yen, and the e: L2 starts at 2,549,800 yen. Additional charges apply for certain body colors and features.
