Mercedes-Benz India is set to introduce a new electric vehicle to its existing lineup on July 8, 2024: the EQA. This addition will mark the fourth electric vehicle offered by Mercedes in India, following the EQB seven-seat SUV, EQE SUV, and EQS sedan. The introduction of the EQA aligns with Mercedes’ strategy to expand its electric vehicle portfolio to six models by 2024.
The upcoming EQA for the Indian market is a refreshed version of the SUV unveiled in August last year. Featuring a crossover-like design with a sleek appearance compared to the EQB seven-seat e-SUV, the EQA sports a grille panel with Mercedes’ signature star pattern and a full-width light bar at the front. The rear design shares similarities with the EQB.
Inside the electric SUV, the dashboard and door trim pieces showcase the star pattern, illuminated to create a visual link with the S-Class and EQS models. Passengers can select from four ‘sound experiences,’ such as ‘silver waves’ and ‘vivid flux,’ altering the tone and acoustics of music. The availability of the optional open-pore wood trim for the India-spec model remains uncertain.
Although Mercedes has not yet confirmed the battery details and technical specifications for the India-spec EQA, the international models include the EQA 250, EQA 250+, EQA 300 4Matic, and EQA 350 4Matic variants.
Charging options for the Mercedes EQA include compatibility with an 11kW AC charger or a DC fast charger with up to 100kW capacity.
