Renowned three-Michelin-star Chef Corey Lee is set to unveil his latest culinary venture, Na Oh, at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS). Opening its doors to the public, Na Oh promises to deliver a unique dining experience that seamlessly blends authentic Korean cuisine with cutting-edge innovation.
Chef Lee, celebrated for his acclaimed San Francisco restaurant Benu, brings his expertise to Singapore with a new casual dining concept. Na Oh aims to offer an inclusive approach to quality Korean cuisine through a 4-course prix fixe menu, featuring the traditional jinjitsang meal setting with a variety of accompaniments.
A Cultural Hub for Korean Cuisine
Na Oh, translating to “moving from inside out” in Korean, aspires to be more than just a restaurant. It seeks to become a cultural hub, showcasing Korean cuisine, craft, and design through the collaboration of diverse Korean artisans. Chef Lee’s seasonal menu, rooted in traditional Korean techniques such as fermentation and preservation, is reimagined for the modern diner using seasonal ingredients.
Innovative Menu Highlights
The inaugural summer menu reflects Chef Lee’s innovative approach, featuring dishes like Mulhwe (seafood in an icy kimchi broth), Naengmyun (cold beef noodles), and Samgyetang (ginseng-flavored stuffed chicken). The Naengmyun includes made-to-order buckwheat noodles, a broth crafted from dongchimi and long-simmered beef stock, served with thinly shaved, sea-salt-cured beef strip loin, offering a refreshing twist on a classic Korean dish.
Seed-to-Table Experience
Na Oh’s dishes are crafted using ingredients grown in HMGICS’s vertical Smart Farm, which produces nine different crops, including ice plant, red coral lettuce, swiss chard, mustard, kale, romaine lettuce, and mizuna. This farm-to-table approach ensures the freshest ingredients and highlights Hyundai’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
A New Dimension in Dining
Chef Lee expressed his excitement about the collaboration with Hyundai, stating, “It has been inspiring to bring together the innovation that Hyundai offers at HMGICS with traditional cooking techniques that we have reimagined for the menu. I hope to bring a fresh, new approach to Korean cuisine in Singapore, a country renowned for its food lovers.”
Opening Details
Na Oh will operate from Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. While the restaurant is open to the general public, advance booking is recommended to secure a spot at this new culinary landmark. With its blend of tradition and modernity, Na Oh is poised to become a standout destination in Singapore’s vibrant dining scene.
