Battery Smart, a prominent battery swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers, has revealed a partnership with Zepto, an e-grocery and quick commerce service. This collaboration will provide Zepto’s EV delivery partners access to Battery Smart’s extensive network of over 1,000 battery swapping stations across more than 30 cities, enabling rapid two-minute battery swaps.

The partnership aims to help Zepto deploy 10,000 new electric vehicles to its fleet in the fiscal year 2024-25. Currently, EVs account for 20% of India’s last-mile delivery market, aligning with the government’s target of 30% vehicle fleet electrification by 2030.

Yogiraj Gogia, Senior Director of Partnerships and Fleet Business at Battery Smart, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Zepto’s impressive growth over the past year is set to accelerate further with access to our expanding network of swap stations, facilitating the deployment of more EVs in their fleet.”

This collaboration intends to simplify the transition to electric vehicles for delivery partners through Battery Smart’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, reducing the capital costs associated with purchasing EVs without batteries.

Vikas Sharma, COO of Zepto, highlighted the advantages of the collaboration, stating, “Our alliance with Battery Smart grants us access to the nation’s largest battery swapping station network, ensuring our delivery partners are always close to a swap station with no wait time. This will enable them to save time, complete more deliveries, and ultimately boost their earnings.”

Battery Smart has established stations in Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities across various states, including Haryana, NCR, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. This extensive network will enable Zepto’s delivery partners to avoid charging downtimes, ensuring timely deliveries.
