Kia India Achieves Sales of 19,500 Units in May 2024, Marking 3.9% Year-on-Year Growth

Kia India, recognized as one of the swiftly advancing premium car manufacturers in the nation, has disclosed impressive sales figures for May 2024. Recording the sale of 19,500 units during the month, the company has marked a Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) growth rate exceeding 3.9%, in comparison to the corresponding month of the previous year when it sold 18,766 units.

Leading the sales chart in May 2024 is the newly launched Sonet, garnering a notable figure of 7,433 units. Following closely behind are the Seltos and Carens models with sales figures of 6,736 and 5,316 units, respectively. Additionally, Kia dispatched 2,304 units to international markets during the same period, bringing the total production to 21,804 units. This achievement propels the company past the significant milestone of exporting over 2.5 Lakh units to more than 100 countries, underscoring Kia’s steadfast export strategy. Notably, the Seltos model accounts for nearly 60% of the company’s exports from India, while Sonet and Carens contribute 34% and 7%, respectively.

Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, expressed satisfaction with the aggressive introduction of competitive variants contributing substantially to the sales growth. He further emphasized the company’s commitment to sustained growth through a robust network expansion strategy, with ambitions to soon surpass the 1 million domestic sales milestone.

In a relatively brief period of around five years, Kia has firmly established itself as one of the prominent car brands in the Indian market. The company has achieved remarkable domestic sales figures, surpassing 9.8 Lakh units, with the Seltos model contributing nearly half of the total. Looking ahead, Kia India has announced plans to launch two global models, including the World Car of the Year EV9 and the new Carnival, in the second half of the year, further cementing its position in the Indian automotive landscape.
