The Woodbridge Township Police Department in New Jersey is enhancing its fleet with the help of Ford Pro. Leveraging Ford Pro’s comprehensive fleet solutions and financing options, Woodbridge is optimizing its police vehicle lineup to meet the needs of its officers while staying within budget constraints.
Community-Centered Collaboration
Woodbridge Township, renowned for its strong municipal governance and community spirit, is committed to properly resourcing its police department despite budget limitations. Mayor John E. McCormac expressed the township’s pride: “We have a very strong municipal government and school system and a population of people who volunteer, love their community, and take care of people.”
This sentiment is echoed by Sgt. Phil Agosta of the Woodbridge Police Department, who emphasized the importance of having the right vehicles for their officers: “This is my home for our 10-hour shifts,” said Officer Jessina Minsal, who works in traffic enforcement. “I need a reliable vehicle.”
Tailored Police Vehicles
Woodbridge’s police fleet, which includes over 150 vehicles such as Ford Police Interceptor Utility SUVs and Ford F-150 Responder trucks, is designed to meet the specific needs of the officers. In 2020, the department took a significant step by developing a prototype for an upfitted Ford police vehicle. Sgt. Agosta involved officers in the process, gathering feedback on essential equipment and configurations to enhance their daily operations.
The 2025 Police Interceptor Utility now includes the Police Engine Idle feature, allowing vital systems and equipment to run even after the officer exits the vehicle, a crucial function for Officer Minsal during nighttime stops.
Flexible Fleet Financing
To manage the high costs of maintaining and rotating vehicles, Woodbridge utilizes Ford Pro FinSimple™ Municipal Financing. This program enables the township to fund its fleet and upfits without large cash outlays or long-term debt contracts. “The program is great for municipalities that don’t want to spend all of their budget on vehicles,” said Justin Misiora, Municipal Finance Operations Specialist for Ford Pro FinSimple.
Woodbridge Police Department finances approximately 60 vehicles, with flexible repayment terms that help maximize their annual budget. “Ford Pro FinSimple makes budgeting 100 times easier,” Sgt. Agosta noted. “I can go to the town council and say, ‘We need this many cars, this is what it’s going to cost, and this is what our payments will be for the next three years.’”
A Long-Standing Partnership
The relationship between Woodbridge Township and Ford spans over two decades. Mayor McCormac and Sgt. Agosta value Ford as a collaborator, praising the solid vehicles, responsive service, and accommodating financing methods. “Ford is such a great collaborator,” McCormac said.
Ford Pro™ continues to support police departments by providing end-to-end solutions that address the modern demands of law enforcement. This partnership ensures that Woodbridge Township’s police officers have reliable, well-equipped vehicles to serve their community effectively.
