Product planners Peter Schultz and Craig Migliori ignited the spark of innovation with a single query: “Can we make a rally-inspired version of the Mustang Mach-E?” From there, a dedicated team embarked on a journey of transformation, turning a Mach-E GT into a formidable off-road contender.
The Mustang Mach-E Rally isn’t just about appearance; it’s about delivering real rallycross-inspired capability. Equipped with a 1-inch lift, RallyCross-tuned shocks and springs, and gloss-white 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin CrossClimate2 rubber, this SUV is ready to tackle rough terrain with ease. The addition of underbody shielding and rally-inspired accents further enhance its rugged persona.
To ensure the Mach-E Rally could truly handle rallycross driving, Ford’s off-road attributes engineer Chris Berchin and vehicle engineering supervisor Jay Kistler led rigorous testing, including a grueling 500-mile torture test. This extensive testing, informed by rallycross experience, validated the Mach-E Rally’s capability to endure the demands of off-road racing.
But the journey didn’t stop at testing. Ford’s engineers went above and beyond, developing a fully built rallycross testing course at the Michigan Proving Grounds. Through meticulous planning, computer-aided engineering analysis, and in-house development, the course became a true analog of real rallycross racing environments.
