In a momentous achievement, the BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) joint venture marks a significant milestone with the production of its 6 millionth car at Plant Dadong in China. The fully electric BMW i5, resplendent in Frozen Pure Grey, represents a testament to the unwavering dynamism and competitiveness of the plant network in Shenyang.

The rapid pace of production is evident as the last million cars were manufactured in a mere 15 months, with the five-million mark surpassed just last February. This remarkable feat underscores the exceptional capabilities and efficiency of the Shenyang plant network, which continues to uphold high production volumes while gearing up for the introduction of the Neue Klasse.

Milan Nedeljković, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Production, lauds the achievement, stating, “The 6 millionth car is a symbol of the outstanding achievements here in Shenyang. Just like in all our other plants around the world, the focus here is on competitiveness and innovativeness.”

Ensuring the utmost quality, the milestone vehicle underwent rigorous quality checks, including the implementation of Artificial Surface Inspection in the paint shop. Utilizing artificial intelligence, each car undergoes thorough scrutiny, with any imperfections in the paintwork identified with precision to the millimeter. This advanced technology ensures impeccable quality standards, marking a significant advancement in quality assurance processes.

As preparations for the introduction of the Neue Klasse forge ahead, Shenyang stands at the forefront of innovation. The BMW Group is in the process of establishing five high-voltage battery assembly facilities across three continents, with one such facility located in Shenyang. Representing an investment of 10 billion RMB, this facility will produce sixth-generation high-voltage batteries, with production expected to commence at the end of this year.

The impending launch of the Neue Klasse in 2025 signifies a new era of automotive excellence, with China set to produce its first Neue Klasse models by 2026. All three BBA plants – Dadong, Tiexi, and Lydia – are poised to contribute to the production of fully electric cars, further solidifying BMW Brilliance Automotive’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
