The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has announced the operational commencement of its inaugural Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at the Sahibabad RRTS station in Ghaziabad, as per a recent statement. Positioned at gate number 1 of the Sahibabad Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) station, this newly active EV charging station features a diverse range of charging units compatible with various electric vehicle models.

This initiative is among several measures aimed at enhancing last-mile connectivity, the statement emphasized. It enables individuals to charge their four-wheelers within one hour using the fast charging facility. Additionally, the station offers the option of slow charging, allowing four-wheelers to be charged in three hours and two-wheelers in one and a half hours.

Moreover, users have the convenience of paying for electricity consumption per unit through a designated mobile application, with the added flexibility of online payment methods.

In the forthcoming period, the provision of EV charging facilities will be expanded to other operational RRTS stations, including Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, and Modi Nagar North.

Since the initiation of India’s first regional rail project, NCRTC has been dedicated to reducing its environmental impact. In alignment with the national solar mission and the advocacy of clean and sustainable energy sources, NCRTC adopted a solar policy in March 2021. This policy delineates NCRTC’s goal to increase the share of renewable energy by producing around 11 MW peak of solar power internally on the rooftops of stations, depots, and other facilities for non-traction uses within the next five years.
