In a significant stride towards electrifying transportation and fortifying energy security, Beam Global has clinched a groundbreaking deal with the Federal Railroad Administration. The federal agency has placed an order for EV AR solar-powered EV charging systems to energize federal fleet vehicles at the Transportation Technology Center (TTC) in Pueblo, CO.
The acquisition, facilitated through the General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, marks a pivotal moment in federal procurement, streamlining processes and securing optimal pricing for sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Beam Global’s EV ARC systems are revolutionizing the landscape of EV charging infrastructure. These off-grid marvels generate and store clean electricity autonomously, eliminating the need for electrical work, construction, and utility bills. Not only do they trim costs for the federal government, but they also bolster resilience by operating seamlessly during blackouts. Moreover, with an optional Emergency Power Panel, these systems can provide critical electricity to first responders in times of calamity, enhancing disaster preparedness.
Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global, emphasized the versatility and robustness of their products, particularly in addressing challenges inherent in expansive railroad infrastructure. “Our products excel in solving significant challenges at scale, robustly and sustainably,” Wheatley commented.
The federal fleet, comprising approximately 657,500 vehicles, is on the brink of a monumental shift. Executive Order 14057, coupled with the Federal Sustainability Plan, mandates a transition to 100% zero-emission vehicle acquisitions by 2035, with light-duty acquisitions reaching the same milestone by 2027. This directive underscores the urgency and prioritization of a Federal Clean Electricity and Vehicle Procurement Strategy, advocating for clean and zero-emission vehicles across federal, state, local, and tribal government fleets, including the United States Postal Service.
As government entities nationwide ramp up efforts to electrify their fleets, rapid deployment, renewable energy, and energy resiliency emerge as critical factors in shaping the EV charging infrastructure landscape. Beam Global’s partnership with the Federal Railroad Administration exemplifies a stride towards a sustainable, electrified future for transportation, underpinned by innovation and resilience.
