Ahead of Auto China 2024 in Beijing, Audi is ready to unveil its electric strategy and lineup for China’s automotive market. With this showcase, Audi aims to strengthen its position for sustained success in the country. The Audi booth will feature the world premiere of the Audi Q6L e-tron, produced at the new Audi FAW NEV Company factory in Changchun. Additionally, Audi will present its roadmap for further electric transformation in China at Volkswagen’s Group Night and an Audi press conference. This bold move underscores Audi’s commitment to meeting the specific needs of the Chinese market, with all vehicles on display being fully electric to address the growing demand for new energy vehicles.

The new Audi Q6L e-tron’s exterior will debut at Volkswagen Group Night on April 24, followed by its first appearance at Auto China from April 25 to May 4, alongside the Q5 e-tron RS edition and the SQ6, both making their debut in China.

The main press conference at the Audi booth is scheduled for April 25 at 9:40 a.m., with Audi CEO Gernot Döllner and representatives from Chinese partners FAW and SAIC. Audi China’s new president, Johannes Roscheck, will also attend. The Q6L e-tron marks Audi’s significant model initiative in China, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to localization, particularly with the introduction of the new PPE platform. Production of three PPE-based models will commence before the end of 2024 at the Audi FAW NEV Company plant in Changchun, the first Audi plant exclusively dedicated to electric vehicle production in China. This smart production facility sets high standards in digitalization, efficiency, and sustainability.

Audi’s electrification strategy in China extends beyond the new plant, with a diverse portfolio of battery-electric and localized combustion-engine models, leveraging partnerships with local entities to drive growth and accelerate electrification efforts.

Audi China, FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC Volkswagen, and the Audi FAW NEV Company Ltd. in Changchun represent Audi AG’s presence in China, with the two-partner strategy implemented in 2021 leading to its largest model portfolio to date. Further expansion of battery-electric models is planned through an extended partnership with SAIC, solidifying Audi’s position in the Chinese market.
