Scania, a global leader in sustainable transport solutions, is making significant strides in the realm of battery-electric vehicle (BEV) trucks by introducing a diverse range of electric machines, axle configurations, and cab alternatives. With a focus on enhancing customer value and providing tailored solutions, Scania is revolutionizing the electric truck market, offering unparalleled flexibility and performance.
Fredrik Allard, Senior Vice President, and Head of E-mobility at Scania, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering customer-centric solutions, stating, “We are steadily adding more and more customer value and specification choices with our continuous introductions. And the customers reward us with increased interest since it is now obvious how well these trucks serve and behave in actual operations and how truly appreciated they are among drivers.”
Scania’s latest offerings include a tandem bogie axle for BEVs, catering to applications such as tippers, hook lifts, and concrete mixers without compromising traction or load-carrying capacity. Additionally, the introduction of various power take-off solutions enhances the versatility of Scania’s electric trucks, empowering haulers and transporters within distribution or construction-related operations.
The introduction of the EM C1-2 electric machine, available in 210 kW and 240 kW versions, further expands Scania’s electric truck portfolio. Designed to meet the specific needs of construction-oriented operations, these electric machines offer optimal power levels and compact dimensions, making them ideal for urban environments and diverse municipal applications.
“Allard highlighted the versatility and performance of the EM C1-2, stating, “It is the kind of electric machine that fits in an endless number of operations by being light and flexible, yet also powerful. It offers driveability and the smoothness that drivers have come to expect from electric powertrains.”
Addressing concerns regarding charging infrastructure and power take-out (PTO) solutions, Scania reassures customers by offering guidance and support throughout the process. By simplifying the charging solutions and enhancing PTO efficiency, Scania aims to facilitate the transition towards electrification for its customers.
Scania’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its impressive battery technology, boasting a lifespan of 1.3 million kilometers and a significantly reduced carbon footprint. Produced with fossil-free electricity in northern Sweden, Scania’s lithium-ion batteries set new standards for green and efficient energy storage in the industry.
“The transition towards electrification is imminent,” remarked Allard. “The reasons not to transform are rapidly being ironed out while more reasons for switching to electric trucks appear before our eyes every day.”
As Scania continues to expand its electric truck offerings and pioneer tailor-made solutions, it reaffirms its position as a frontrunner in sustainable transport innovation, driving towards a greener and more efficient future for the industry.
