Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Nissan) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) have embarked on a groundbreaking collaboration, signing a memorandum of understanding to explore innovative joint initiatives in next-generation mobility and energy-related services. This alliance aims to tackle pressing regional societal issues in Japan while paving the way for vibrant future communities.

The partnership comes at a pivotal moment as Japan grapples with challenges such as driver shortages, declining public transportation usage, and the imperative to maintain essential services amid shifting demographics. Both Nissan and MC have been at the forefront of addressing these issues through various initiatives, leveraging their expertise in mobility solutions and sustainable energy practices.

Nissan’s efforts have included the deployment of mobility services in Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture, and autonomous driving tests in the Yokohama Minato Mirai District. In the mobility sector, MC has implemented AI-driven on-demand transportation solutions in cities like Shiojiri City in Nagano Prefecture, alongside conducting autonomous driving demonstrations using digital solutions.
