WeaveGrid, a leading software company specializing in electric vehicle (EV) integration with the electric grid, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the American Center for Mobility (ACM) to conduct real-world testing of its innovative software at ACM’s Willow Run facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Supported by the Michigan Mobility Funding Platform grant, this collaboration aims to accelerate the development and deployment of grid-optimized algorithms for EV charging, enhancing grid resilience and reducing driver costs.
WeaveGrid’s software harnesses data and controls from vehicle telematics and cloud-connected charging hardware to enable EVs and charging infrastructure to interact with the grid effectively. By facilitating charging at optimal times, WeaveGrid’s solution not only benefits drivers but also strengthens grid resilience, a critical component of sustainable energy management.
The partnership with ACM offers WeaveGrid a unique opportunity to conduct live testing with a diverse range of EV models and charging stations in a real-world environment. The Willow Run facility, renowned for its state-of-the-art testing and development capabilities, provides an ideal setting to validate WeaveGrid’s software products across various EV models and charger types, ensuring scalability and applicability.
Yakov Berenshteyn, Director of Automotive & Charging Partnerships at WeaveGrid, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “The collaboration unlocked by this grant represents an exciting opportunity to gather real-world data from a wide range of EVs and chargers, and lead the way in advanced measurement and validation of vehicle telematics for utility applications more broadly.”
Reuben Sarkar, President and CEO of ACM, highlighted the significance of the partnership in shaping the future of electrified mobility, stating, “Our facility provides the perfect testbed for companies like WeaveGrid to develop and demonstrate the cutting-edge software and technologies that will shape the future of electrified mobility. We’re especially thrilled to welcome this effort here in Michigan, the leading state for advancing the mobility industry.”
With access to ACM’s world-class development and validation garage facility, as well as a range of Level 2 EV chargers, WeaveGrid is poised to conduct comprehensive charging test procedures later this year. Formalizing this effort at the Michigan Testing Facility in Ypsilanti will not only expand the scope of the collaboration but also pave the way for engagement with major automotive events, further solidifying Michigan’s position as a leader in mobility innovation.
The partnership between WeaveGrid and ACM underscores a shared commitment to driving innovation in electric vehicle integration with the grid, heralding a new era of sustainable transportation solutions.
