Volkswagen is expanding the drive system options for the new Passat, introducing two new plug-in hybrid models for pre-sales. The eHybrid variants boast outputs of 150 kW (204 PS) and 200 kW (272 PS), offering electric ranges of up to 120 km for everyday electric driving.
Additionally, two new turbodiesel (TDI) versions are being introduced: the Passat TDI with 90 kW (122 PS) will serve as the entry-level model, while the most powerful TDI engine, delivering 142 kW (193 PS), will come standard with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. The new Passat has been available for configuration with a mild hybrid drive (eTSI) and a TDI with 110 kW (150 PS) since last autumn.
The Passat comes in several variants and equipment lines: Passat, Business, Elegance, and R-Line. Business suits frequent business drivers, while Elegance and R-Line offer top-of-the-line specs. Each drive variant aligns with specific equipment lines:
The Passat eHybrid models feature a cutting-edge plug-in hybrid drive system with outputs of 150 kW and 200 kW. Both models boast efficient charging capabilities, which makes them ideal for everyday and long-distance driving. Prices for the 150 kW version start from 50,320 euros, while the 200 kW version begins at 62,330 euros.
The Passat now offers a TDI variant with 90 kW (122 PS), known for its exceptional fuel efficiency in the mid-sized estate category. With a maximum torque of 320 Nm, this compact turbodiesel engine delivers impressive power. Priced from 41,745 euros, the 90 kW TDI is available for both the Passat and Business equipment lines.
The Passat stands as one of Europe’s premier business vehicles, renowned for its robust turbodiesel engines, which are particularly favored by frequent drivers for their ample power reserves and exceptional fuel efficiency. Notably, the Passat TDI 4MOTION, boasting 142 kW (193 PS) and standard all-wheel drive, exemplifies this balance. Priced at 57,335 Euros, it offers optimal traction on all terrains and a maximum trailer weight of 2,200 kg, exclusively available in the top-tier Elegance and R-Line versions.
Since November of last year, Passat models have been configurable with 110 kW (150 PS) TDI and eTSI engines. The Passat eTSI, featuring a mild hybrid system with a 48 V belt-driven starter alternator, starts at 39,995 Euros and is available for Passat and Business equipment lines. Meanwhile, the 110 kW TDI begins at 48,495 Euros and can be configured in the Business, Elegance, and R-Line equipment lines.
