The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, a division of the National Automotive Board under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, awarded its inaugural Production Linked Incentive (PLI) – Automotive Certificate to Ola Electric Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The certificate recognizes Ola Electric’s commitment to indigenizing advanced automotive technology and contributing to the ‘Make in Bharat’ initiative.

Under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Automobiles and Auto Components introduced by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Ola Electric’s Battery Electric Vehicle – 2W (Ola S1 Pro Gen2) met the required criteria, showcasing its dedication to advancing electric mobility in India.

The PLI Scheme, launched in 2021 with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 25,938 crore, aims to boost local production of Advanced Automotive Technology (AAT) products and attract investments in the automotive manufacturing value chain. Ola Electric’s achievement reflects the progress in the Indian automotive industry toward localized production of advanced automotive technology products and aligns with the vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).

The PLI-Auto Certificate was handed over by Dr Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary – Ministry of Heavy Industries, to Dr S.J. Dhinagar, Head of Engineering & Sr. VP at Ola Electric, in the presence of Shri Saurabh Dalela, Director-ICAT, and senior officials from the Ministry of Heavy Industries, ICAT, and Ola Electric.

ICAT, Manesar, is currently evaluating and assessing PLI-Auto applications from other eligible applicants in the automotive sector, with more companies expected to receive PLI-Auto Certificates soon.

ICAT, established in 2006, is a division of the National Automotive Board (NAB) under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. It is designated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways for Testing & Certification of Automobiles and their Safety Critical Components. ICAT is also authorized by the Ministry of Heavy Industries for PLI-Auto Certification of AAT Products and FAME Certification, providing comprehensive services in automotive certification, homologation, design, validation, R&D, and more.
