Omega Seiki Private Limited (OSPL), a prominent player in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, and Attero, a leading expert in e-waste management and lithium-ion battery recycling, have joined forces in a monumental move for both sectors. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signifies a significant advancement in the realms of electric vehicles and lithium-ion battery recycling. With over 10,000 electric vehicles already in operation by Omega Seiki, Attero will play a pivotal role in repurposing their batteries for energy storage, underscoring the shared commitment of both entities to address the entire lifecycle of EV components and promote responsible EV battery solutions. Omega Seiki plans to deploy EV batteries totaling over 1 GWh in the next 5 years, with a collective target with Attero to recycle over 100 MWh of batteries in the next 3-4 years, highlighting their dedication to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.
Attero boasts a cutting-edge facility with a formidable capacity to process 145,000 metric tons of e-waste and 11,000 metric tons of battery waste annually, with plans to scale up to 15,000 metric tonnes by February 2024. This robust capacity is instrumental in addressing the environmental challenges associated with the growing production and disposal of electric vehicle components. With over 45 granted global patents and more than 200 applied for, Attero leads the way in li-ion battery recycling and sustainable e-waste management.
Recognizing its pivotal role in shaping sustainable practices, OSPL has converted all its plants into green energy solar-powered facilities, ensuring that energy consumption aligns with the principles of Net Zero. OSPL’s commitment extends beyond its own operations, as it encourages suppliers to embrace sustainable practices and ensures the recycling of 100% of its waste, acknowledging the crucial role of waste management in fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly future.
