In a significant move towards bolstering sustainable transportation initiatives, Beam Global (Nasdaq: BEEM, BEEMW), a prominent provider of innovative infrastructure solutions for transportation electrification and energy security, has secured a substantial $1.7 million order from the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. The order comprises 19 units of Beam EV ARC™ sustainable off-grid charging systems and 2 ARC Mobility™ trailers, designed to facilitate the efficient transportation of these groundbreaking products.

The Beam EV ARC™ systems represent a revolutionary off-grid solution, utilizing renewable energy to generate and store their own clean electricity. What sets these systems apart is their ability to be deployed with utmost ease, requiring no construction, electrical work, or utility connections. Delivered as turnkey sustainable charging solutions, these systems are not only flood-proof up to 9.5 feet but also wind-rated to withstand speeds of 160 mph. Notably, they continue to provide electricity during blackouts, making them an ideal choice for disaster preparedness, particularly for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) component agencies.

Adding to the versatility is the ARC Mobility™ trailer, a specialized hydraulic transport system designed for the efficient relocation of EV ARC™ charging systems. This process is achieved without the need for additional equipment or site work, underscoring the adaptability and convenience of Beam Global’s innovative solutions.

Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global, emphasized the significance of the company’s rapid deployment capabilities, stating, “Correction facilities and other secure or sensitive locations can rapidly deploy EV ARC charging systems without disruptive construction and electrical projects which introduce significant security risk and can be outright prohibited. Our ability to have a single person deliver operational EV charging in minutes instead of months means that correctional officers do not need to security-clear multiple-member construction teams or manage security during lengthy projects. Any secure environment offers an excellent opportunity for further EV ARC deployments. This is another excellent example of the unique and valuable attributes our rapidly deployed, low-touch, infrastructure products bring to the EV charging space.”

As governments and private fleets increasingly transition to electric vehicles for cost-efficiency and compliance with zero-emission targets, correctional facilities with security concerns find the traditional installation projects risky. The demand for on-site EV chargers to support new fleet EVs, employee workplace charging, and visitor charging is on the rise. Beam Global’s solar-powered EV ARC™ electric vehicle charging systems address this need by offering rapid deployment without digging, construction, electrical work, or extensive teams.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Census of State and Federal Adult Correctional Facilities report a total of 4,527 correctional facilities in the U.S., both public and private. Beam Global anticipates a growing demand for EV charging infrastructure in such facilities, particularly with the enforcement of mandates like the federal government’s requirement for all light-duty vehicles to be zero emissions by 2027. This recent order from the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seen as a significant stride in fulfilling these evolving needs and advancing sustainable transportation solutions.
