Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated an electric bus (e-bus) service in Jammu, distributing over a thousand appointment letters for the Jammu & Kashmir Combined Examination-2024 and compassionate appointments. The launch included 100 fully air-conditioned e-buses in Jammu, part of a project costing INR 561 crore for operation and maintenance over 12 years.

Shah emphasized India’s environmental initiatives, with the Modi government implementing nationwide schemes for e-buses. The buses, ranging from 9 to 12 meters, aim to provide reliable, comfortable, and eco-friendly public transport, addressing commuting challenges and promoting environmental sustainability in Jammu and surrounding areas.

Amit Shah highlighted the transparent system under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, ensuring merit-based appointments for successful candidates. He announced that 209 candidates from the Combined Examination-2024 received appointment letters, including officers in the Administrative Service, Account Gazette Service, and Police Service. Additionally, 885 individuals received compassionate appointment letters. Shah noted that since the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in August 2019, 34,440 vacancies have been filled, emphasizing the elimination of corruption in the recruitment process.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, Shah commended the peace and security ushered into Jammu & Kashmir. He highlighted significant improvements in investment, infrastructure, education, and healthcare, showcasing the transformative developments in the region.

Shah outlined achievements such as increased colleges, the establishment of IIM, IIT, and AIIMS, and the expansion of medical and nursing colleges. He emphasized completed projects under the Smart City Mission, allocation of homes, provision of tap water to households, and health coverage for a significant population.
