To commemorate International Reducing CO2 Emissions Day, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched the inaugural set of five JBM ECOLIFE electric buses at Panipat Bus Depot.

Supplied by JBM Auto, a local bus manufacturer in Haryana, these buses represent a noteworthy advancement in advocating for sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation within the state. The event attracted the attendance of prominent dignitaries, government officials, and industry leaders.

In Panipat, Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated electric city bus services, offering free travel for the first seven days. The initial fleet comprises three electric buses, with plans to introduce five more shortly.

Emphasizing the initiative’s dual purpose of providing convenient transportation and curbing environmental pollution, Khattar highlighted the carefully planned routes, covering distances up to 30 kilometers, and fares ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50. The government aims to extend e-bus services to seven additional cities by June 2024, with expansions in Gurugram, Manesar, and Faridabad.

During his budget speech, Khattar announced the initiation of city bus services in nine municipal corporations and Rewari city. The chief minister also outlined significant improvements in road, rail, and air connectivity, including plans for a Rapid Rail Transport System and the Haryana Orbital Rail Service.

New bus stands for electric buses equipped with charging facilities will be established in seven cities, costing a total of Rs 110 crore. Additionally, during a “Jan Samvad” program in Karnal, Khattar revealed plans to open care homes for the elderly in every district, accommodating 50 senior citizens each.
