Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors and a trailblazer in India’s electric vehicle (EV) revolution, proudly unveiled its inaugural pure EV, the Punch.ev. This groundbreaking electric vehicle, based on the recently introduced acti.ev architecture, sets new benchmarks with cutting-edge technology, environmental consciousness, and a compelling cost-effective proposition. Offering versatility with three distinct personas – Smart, Adventure, and Empowered – the Punch.ev is elegantly packaged in a classical SUV design. Priced at an introductory rate of INR 10.99 Lakh, the Punch.ev will be available at all Tata Motors showrooms authorized for EV sales and Tata.ev stores nationwide.
Representing a transformative shift in the lifestyle and needs of modern customers, the Punch.ev amalgamates the trusted Punch brand’s reliability with the latest advancements in electric vehicle technology. This EV promises an exceptional driving experience with zero emissions.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, remarked, “Today marks a historic milestone in India’s EV journey as Tata.ev propels the nation into a new era of sustainable mobility with the launch of Punch.ev.” He emphasized Tata’s unwavering mission to accelerate EV adoption and reshape perceptions, highlighting their prior successes with game-changing EV models like Nexon.ev and Tiago.ev.
The Punch.ev comes in two battery pack options – 25 kWh with an MIDC range of 315 km and 35 kWh with an MIDC range of 421 km. With two e-drive options, the Punch.ev boasts advanced technology, featuring a 60kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor and a 90kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor. The vehicle’s battery pack and motor are IP67 rated for protection against dust and water, providing an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty for peace of mind.
The EV’s charging capabilities include options for 3.3kW and 7.2 kW AC fast chargers, with DC Fast Charging enabling a 10% to 80% charge in just 56 minutes from any 50 kW DC fast charger.
Distinguished by its innovative design, the Punch.ev incorporates smart lighting systems, a digital-first in-cabin experience, and an array of technological features. The car boasts a 26cm high-definition infotainment display by HARMAN, a 26cm digital cockpit, and a range of connectivity options, including wireless Android AutoTM and Apple CarPlay TM functionalities. The Punch.ev offers a seamless connected car experience with the ZConnect Connected Car Technology, featuring smartwatch connectivity as standard.
Safety is a priority, with standard features such as six airbags, Electronic Stability Program, ISOFIX, Roll-over mitigation, Brake Disc Wiping, Hydraulic fading compensation, SOS Calling with E-Call & B-Call, Electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, and a 360 surround view camera system with blind spot monitor.
Designed as a true electric SUV, the Punch.ev boasts practical yet performance-oriented attributes, including 16-inch LRR tyres, 190mm ground clearance, 350mm water wading capability, and impressive approach, departure, and ramp-over angles. The vehicle also offers convenience with its 90-degree opening doors, a flat 2nd-row floor, 366 litres of boot space, and additional storage spaces.
