The transport department of the Delhi government has reissued a tender for the deployment of electric scooters in the Dwarka sub-city, aiming to enhance last-mile connectivity in the area, officials stated.
The government intends to introduce a fleet of electric scooters at approximately 90 locations within Dwarka, according to Delhi Transport Commissioner Ashish Kundra.
Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot informed PTI that proposals have been sought from potential service providers for both high-speed and low-speed e-scooters to facilitate last-mile connectivity in Dwarka.
This initiative, which marks the second attempt at the tender, is expected to expand to other areas in the future. The bid conditions have been adjusted for the second round, and the deployment involves 3,000 electric vehicles across three phases at key locations like metro stations, bus depots, markets, malls, and educational institutions.
Phase 1, set to launch with 1,500 vehicles, will include both high-speed and low-speed e-scooters. Phase 2 and Phase 3 will introduce additional vehicles, culminating in the deployment of 3,000 vehicles for long-term hiring or rental.
The project, estimated at Rs 18 crore, is scheduled for implementation in phases over the next seven years, including operations and maintenance.
