Delhi Sets Record With 19.5% Electric Vehicle Sales In December 2023

In December, a record-breaking 19.5% of vehicles sold in Delhi were electric, marking the highest-ever percentage reported in any Indian state.

Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot highlighted this achievement, emphasizing Delhi’s commitment to promoting electric vehicles.

The city’s policy encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles, initially set to expire on December 31, has been extended until March 31. Throughout 2023, Delhi saw a total of 657,312 vehicle registrations, with 73,610 being electric.

The minister provided monthly breakdowns, showcasing the growth of EV sales, and reaffirmed the city’s dedication to creating a cleaner and greener environment under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership.
