In a stride toward sustainability and environmental stewardship, Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), a leading energy and city gas distribution company in India, and Shigan Quantum Technologies Limited (Shigan), a provider of alternative fuel system solutions for automotive, locomotive, and stationary engines, have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to decarbonize the supply chain by establishing an ecosystem conducive to the shift towards cleaner fuels like CNG and LNG. The MoU outlines various areas of collaboration between ATGL and Shigan.

Shigan specializes in manufacturing alternative fuel system solutions for automotive OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and aftermarket. Both partners will focus on promoting natural gas adoption in transportation and mining applications by offering sustainable solutions to fleet operators, including those within Adani Group companies operating in sectors like cement, ports, and logistics. The collaboration will also explore LNG retrofitment solutions for stationary engines, locomotives, and marine equipment.

Beyond developing CNG/LNG-based retrofitment solutions, the partnership will delve into e-mobility solutions for last-mile delivery providers and investigate green hydrogen’s viability as fuel for ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles.

ATGL and Shigan are optimistic that this collaboration will yield a positive environmental impact and benefit the wider business community. The MoU empowers both entities to prioritize sustainability efforts while maintaining operational efficiency.

Suresh P. Manglani, Executive Director and CEO of ATGL, expressed optimism about the shared vision for a greener future. He stated, “The MoU signifies our joint commitment to a more sustainable future. Our aim is to co-create comprehensive solutions supporting the transport and mining industries in their journey towards decarbonization and aligning with the country’s net-zero commitments.”

Shishir Agrawal, Managing Director of Shigan, echoed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing its significance in championing environmental responsibility. He said, “This MoU marks a significant stride in our shared dedication to environmental accountability. Transitioning to cleaner fuels not only reduces our carbon footprint but also sets a precedent for positive industry-wide transformation.”
