Union Minister Gadkari Foresees 1 Crore Annual EV Sales In India By 2030

India is poised to witness annual Electric Vehicle (EV) sales of 1 crore, with the sector anticipated to generate approximately 5 crore jobs by 2030, according to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Speaking at the 19th EV EXPO 2023, Gadkari highlighted that, based on the Vahan database, India already has 34.54 lakh registered EVs.

Emphasizing India’s potential to become the leading global EV manufacturer, Gadkari reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering self-reliance in clean energy production and widespread adoption.

Gadkari further disclosed that the government has approved the retrofitting of existing polluting vehicles into hybrid and fully electric vehicles.

The regulatory framework has been finalized, and successful technology demonstrations have taken place. He outlined the government’s intention to transition public transport and logistics towards electric vehicles.
